About the project:

War

“I got the idea for this painting in a cold, damp cellar where my family and I spent 2 weeks hiding from explosions and gunfire. We were completely cut off from all communication, food, and water. With my work, I wanted to show the emptiness, fear, and hopelessness that I and many Ukrainian families had to face. The beam of light in the painting is associated with the hope and belief that everything will be fine and that the war will end.”

Zoia is one of the Ukrainian artists now based in Slovenia who created artworks within the frame of a group exhibition of Ukrainian artists living in Slovenia organised by APIS Institute.
